About the release
Kids of Immigrants has turned one of Nike's most recognisable football boot silhouettes into a mule. The Nike T90 Mule pack arrives in two colourways — 'Khaki' (IH4422-200) and 'Velvet Brown' (IH4422-201) — both carrying the Total 90's asymmetrical tongue detail, now redesigned as a snap-on fold-over tongue with metal closures at the vamp and ankle collar. Remove it and the classic T90 asymmetrical lace panel is underneath. Keep it on and it reads like a boot. Either way, this is one of the better World Cup-adjacent releases of the summer.
Both pairs come with cork insoles stamped with KOI branding incorporating the Nike Football triangle, and a passport-style accessory with a travel card — a nod to the 'Nike Together 90' theme and the gathering-of-nations spirit of the World Cup. Both colourways are unisex and land on 28 May 2026 for £100 each.
Also celebrating their 10th anniversary this year, Kids of Immigrants dropped seeded pairs to attendees of their anniversary event in early May — making this one of the more personal releases in their Nike partnership to date.

'Khaki' colourway

Credit: Nike
The 'Khaki' runs khaki suede on the fold-over tongue and heel collar with Classic Olive leather on the side panels. University Gold and Fusion Red hit the asymmetrical Swoosh, with a Light Mulberry mesh tongue and liner underneath the snap-on cover. The earth-toned palette is the more wearable of the two colourways and sits cleanly in the summer football season mood.
'Velvet Brown' colourway

Credit: Nike
The 'Velvet Brown' runs dark Velvet Brown suede on the upper with Off Noir leather panels and Anthracite detailing throughout. University Gold, Orange Horizon and Fusion Red bring the accent colour through the Swoosh and tongue branding. Puerto Rican artist Rauw Alejandro was spotted wearing this colourway ahead of release, giving it early cultural placement beyond the football world.
The snap-on tongue: how it works
The most distinctive design feature is the fold-over tongue, which references the performance soccer styling of the original Total 90 boot. On the KOI mule, the tongue is a removable accessory: a metal snap closure sits on the vamp and the underside of the ankle collar, allowing the tongue cover to be attached or detached. With it on, the shoe reads like a boot. Remove it and the classic T90 asymmetrical lace panel is revealed sitting over an attached inner bootie structure. It is genuinely one of the more interesting construction details on any Nike release this season.
Kids of Immigrants: who they are
Kids of Immigrants is a New York-based brand founded by Daniel Buezo and his co-founders, built around the values of community, diversity and immigrant identity. 2026 marks the brand's 10th anniversary, and the T90 Mule is one of the milestone releases for the occasion. Their Nike partnership has previously produced co-branded football kits, apparel and the well-regarded Air Max SNDR collaboration. The T90 Mule is the most explicitly football-coded Nike footwear project they have tackled, arriving with World Cup 2026 across the USA, Mexico and Canada as the backdrop.
Why this release matters
Turning the Total 90 into a mule should not work. It does. The snap-on tongue preserves the visual language of the boot without committing the shoe to a performance context that a mule would never actually serve. The result is a piece that sits in the growing space between football archive nostalgia, streetwear and lifestyle footwear — a space that the World Cup summer of 2026 has opened up more than any previous football summer.
At £100, both colourways are priced accessibly for what they are. The cork KOI insoles, snap-on tongue construction and passport accessory packaging all justify the collab premium over a standard Nike mule release.
